Question:
I feel ugly lately :(
I don't know what it is... I liked the way I looked until the past few days and I think it is because I have a cold and the wintry weather takes its toll but today I looked in the mirror and thought 'EURGHG URRGLY'
My hair's all weird and I don't like the cut of it anymore it's just so boring and 'there', my face looks pasty and white no matter how much make-up I put on, there are bluey grey circles round my eyes and my eyes look lifeless.
I keep feeling lately that I need a revamp even though I thought I'd finally achieved the look I wanted- i.e black hair, paleish skin with rosy cheeks and big eyelashes but now I'm so bored of it all and NEED a change. A spring clean if you will.
Can anyone suggest any quick pick-me ups and maybe long term changes?
My current regime is a beigey foundation (Bourjois Happy Light), I wear lots of mascara (Benefit Bad Gal) with subtle black eyeliner most days although not all, I rarely wear lipgloss as I hate when my hair goes in it but I've been making the effort with subtle pinks and bronzes.
My hair is black and I would like to go for a warmer darker brown a la Rachel Bilson.
Thank you, LL xx
:higgies: I am sure you are not ugly, it's just having a cold and generally feeling ill that's making you feel this way! Dr VG prescribes lots of chocolate and chick flicks to make you feel better!
I know exactly how you feel!
Today i went back to an old favourite foundation, used brown eyeliner instead of charcoal and used pink cream blusher instead of the peachy one i've been wearing recently and ditched the bronzer. I feel a hell of a lot better just for looking a bit different to the rut i had got stuck in :)
Maybe do the opposite me, buy a light bronzer and some peachy blush? I think green eyeshadow or liner would look fab on you with your colouring too, i love dark hair and green together :)
Think everyone goes through phases like this, I know I do. It won't help if you're feeling ill and run down so maybe you could boost your immune system up so you feel a bit healthier. I've been trying to do this lately as I was suffering from loads of colds and bad skin.
The things I've been doing are taking a multi-vitamin and echinnacea (sp?) tablet everyday and drinking loads of water and fruit juices. I feel loads better and my skin looks better too. To perk your skin up you could also try exfoliating and maybe a face mask.
For your eyes, are you using a hydrating eye cream? I would hide the circles with a good concealer (MAC's studio finish is good) and wear an eyeshadow that contrasts with the colour of your eyes to make them stand out more.
If you're feeling pasty then maybe try a bit of fake tan or bronzer?
Also, treat yourself to a new haircut if your bored with your current one. If you can afford it maybe treat yourself to a facial too? If not then just pamper yourself at home.
Hope you feel better soon :)
Onward Upward!
Hi LL,
I feel the same for you - it's so bad to not to like how you look, but it happens. Sometimes when I look into the mirror and find such a washed-out and tired woman I DON'T want to know! But I believe we experience it every now and then - A LOT of my beautiful friends complain how awful they look! So cheer up :) I am sure you look fab! But at the same time it's good to experiment a bit when doubt, so here's my tips;
Well, I suggest to get haircut first if you want to and makeup shopping AFTER, cos sometimes haircut and/or dye job changes your overall impression. I got bright highlight recently and found out that my eye colour looked much brighter now - it used to be deep black but now it's espresso brown, which I totally love. But I needed to ditch some makeups especially eyeshadows afterwards because of this change! So it cost me a lot if not a fotune, but I love my new self so it's OK, but be careful :)
It is turing to spring, so maybe that's why you feel not so pretty anymore with your old makeup lines. When season changes our state of mind change don't we? So how about getting a pearly eyeshadow or glittery while/silver eyeliner to add some sparckles on your eyes? Even cheap ones do a great job! If you don't like to change the colour lines you use drastically, it's always good to go lighter or deeper, like from deep green to mint green or vise versa.
If you want lighter but not overkill look I recommend navy blue eyeliner instead of brown/black ones, it's so fresh and lively. It's perfect with mint green/sheer white/lavender colour shadow, which are sooo spring.
Hoping you will feel better soon and enjoy,
Hugs
